The All Progressives Congress, APC, in Ogun State has commiserated with the State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, and the family of the late Nigeria’s first female cabinet minister, Adenike Oyagbola.

The party noted that the iconic trailblazer served the nation meticulously and meritoriously, laying a solid foundation for economic planning and the country’s prosperity.

Oyagbola, a renowned educationist and diplomat, passed away on Friday at the age of 94.

The party described her as a pathfinder for women’s empowerment and a consummate, diligent public officer who served the nation with distinction.

This was contained in a statement signed by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Tunde Oladunjoye, and made available to DAILY POST on Sunday in Abeokuta.

The party stressed that Oyagbola, who served as the Minister of National Planning from 1979 to 1983, gave her best with remarkable imprints on the sands of time.

The statement read: “Ogun State has, no doubt, lost one of her revered icons, who served the nation with selfless passion and whose achievements are not only exemplary but also inspirational.

“Our party is pleased that the late minister lived a worthy life, even as we extend our condolences to the governor, the people of Ogun State in general, and the Oyagbola family in particular.

“We pray fervently that Almighty God will grant eternal rest to the soul of the deceased matriarch.”
