Governor Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi state Thursday bid farewell to the 11 persons killed in Ogboji, Anambara state.
The victims were murdered in cold blood by yet to be identified persons after their town union meeting in Ogboji.
Though investigations are still ongoing but some alleged that their death was as a result of leadership tussle.
Others disputed the claim owing to the fact that some indigenes of Ebonyi state were killed before the incident, especially the man that was short dead while answering the call of nature in the bush.
In a funeral mass organised by the state government for the burial of the deceased persons, Governor Nwifuru regretted that no arrest had been made so far.
He narrated the incident as was reported to him by the Anambra state governor, Prof Chukwuma Soludo.
He noted that the security agencies arrested an Ebonyi man who was later released for his innocence.
The governor who was visibly angry over the incident noted that Anambra citizens held the economy of the state yet Ebonyi indigenes were being molested and killed.
Nwifuru, however, empowered widows of the deceased persons with N5 million each, and N10 million to two orphans whom their father was among those killed.
The governor gave the money to Catholic parish in their community and asked them to take care of the children.
The eleven persons killed were natives of Ikwo, Izzi and Ezza North local government areas, respectively.
