Ogunlana in the statement titled: ” Reschedule of Resumption Date of Plenary Activities in the National Assembly”, said, “I am directed by the presiding officers of both Chambers of National Assembly of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to inform all members of the National Assembly and the general public that the Resumption date of the National Assembly earlier scheduled for Tuesday 23rd September 2025 is postponed to Tuesday 7th October 2025.
“However, committee activities continue. All Distinguished Senators and Honourable Members are requested to take note of the new date and adjust their schedules accordingly,
“Any inconvenience caused by this rescheduling is deeply regretted.”
Unsealing of Senator Natasha’s office situated in room 2.05 Senate building, was done by the Deputy Serjeant – at – arms, Mr Alabi Adedeji, at exactly 10:00am in company of a Policeman and another Serjeant at arms.
Senator Natasha was suspended by the Senate on the 6th of March this year based on recommendation to that effect by its committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions Chaired by Senator Neda Imasuen (Edo South).
The committee found Senator Natasha guilty of unruly behavior on the floor of the Senate on the 20th of February, 2025 in her protest against seat re – allocation by the President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio.
Recall that at the expiration of the six month suspension on the 4th of this month, Senator Natasha wrote the Clerk to the National Assembly (CNA), Barrister Kamoru Ogunlana on her readiness to resume legislative duties which was however rejected on the grounds that litigations on her suspension was still pending in the court.
The unsealing of Senator Natasha ‘s office today (Tuesday ), however signifies that the leadership of the Senate and by extension that of the National Assembly, have bowed to the popular opinion of Nigerians that the Kogi Central Senator should be allowed to resume her legislative duties, since period of her suspension has lapsed.
