PSG Star Achraf Hakimi has been named the 2025 African Footballer of the Year.
The Moroccan star won the award on Wednesday night, finishing ahead of Egypt’s Mohamed Salah and Nigeria’s Victor Osimhen.
Hakimi’s win follows several years of strong performances for both Paris Saint-Germain and the Moroccan national team. He has been one of Africa’s most consistent players, known for his solid defending and powerful attacking runs.
This year, Hakimi played a key role in PSG’s success, helping the club win the French Ligue 1 title, the French Cup, and their first-ever UEFA Champions League trophy. He also scored the opening goal in the Champions League final against Inter Milan, showing how important he is in big moments.
For Morocco, Hakimi has continued to lead with skill and confidence, helping the team remain one of the strongest sides in Africa.
Salah and Osimhen also had excellent seasons, but Hakimi’s consistency, trophies and all-round impact made him the clear winner this year.
Wednesday’s award confirms what many football fans expected: Achraf Hakimi truly deserves to be crowned African Footballer of the Year.
