Emmanuel Odo has been appointed as the new Acting Clerk for the Red Chamber after approval from the National Assembly Service Commission (NASC).

His appointment was made official on Tuesday 16 September 2025 during the Commission’s 10th meeting of its 6th session.

Dr Saviour Enyiekere, Executive Chairman of the Commission, in a signed letter, stated that the appointment takes effect from September 16 in line with Section 6 (b) of the National Assembly Service Act, 2014.

Enyiekere wrote, “I write to inform you that the 6th Commission at its 10th Meeting held on Tuesday, 16th September, 2025, approved your appointment as Acting Clerk, Senate in the National Assembly w.e.f. from 16/09/2025.

“This is in exercise of its powers as provided in Section 6(b) of the National Assembly Service Act, 2014,” the letter read.

Dr Enyiekere explained that Odo’s elevation was in recognition of his diligence and administrative competence, urging him to justify the confidence reposed in him.

“Your appointment is in recognition of your hard work and administrative competence. I urge you to work hard to uphold the confidence the Commission has placed in you,” he added.

Until his new appointment, Odo was the Deputy Clerk, Senate (Administration).
