The Oakleaf Fitness Fiesta returned on Saturday for its fourth edition with the key message to attendees to embrace fitness as a long-term commitment to their health.
Organised by Oakleaf Pharmaceuticals Limited, the annual event featured a range of activities, including workouts, health screenings, and interactive games—all designed to reinforce the message that staying active is an essential investment in overall well-being.

Speaking at the event, Adedipo Adetuyi, Managing Director and CEO, emphasised the critical role of fitness in preventing lifestyle diseases such as high blood pressure and diabetes.
“Physical activity doesn’t cost you anything, but it’s an investment in your future. The benefits may not be immediate, but over time, fitness improves energy levels, mental awareness, and reduces the risk of diseases,” Mr Adetuyi explained.
He expressed hope that attendees would take the lessons from the fiesta back home and incorporate fitness into their daily routines.

Mr Adetuyi praised the enthusiastic participation of Lagos residents, noting the city’s growing fitness culture and the impressive turnout at the event.
“Lagosians are naturally energetic and today’s turnout proves that many people are ready to embrace an active lifestyle. However, we still need to encourage more participation in fitness activities,” he said.
He urged other corporate organisations and pharmaceutical companies to support similar wellness initiatives as part of their corporate social responsibility efforts.
Fitness Is For Everyone
A key highlight of the event was the diverse participation across different age groups and genders.
Adetuyi was particularly pleased to see women, children and older adults actively engaging in physical activities.
“Fitness is not gender-based. Whether you’re a man or a woman, young or old, staying active is crucial. It’s inspiring to see people of all ages prioritising their health,” he remarked.

Making Fitness a Lifestyle, Not a Chore
Damola Adeyeye, Head of Operations at Oakleaf Pharmaceuticals, stressed the importance of making fitness a part of everyday life rather than viewing it as an obligation.
“If you see exercise as a chore, it will be hard to sustain. The key is to start small—take a walk, stretch at home, or engage in any movement that keeps you active. Over time, it becomes a habit and part of your routine,” Ms Ade advised.
She also acknowledged the challenges women face in maintaining an active lifestyle, especially due to childbearing and busy schedules, however emphasising that fitness doesn’t require a gym.
“You don’t have to go to a gym to be fit. Simple activities like walking around your home or estate can make a significant difference. The goal is to stay consistent,” she added.
Given the success of this edition, the organisers are considering an additional event before the end of the year.
“We typically hold this event once a year, but due to the positive response, we’re looking at organising another edition before the year is over.
“Once plans are finalised, we’ll share the details,” Mr Adetuyi revealed.
