NYSC cautions Corps members against unlawful conduct

The National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, has cautioned corps members across the country against taking laws into their own hands during or after their service year.

The Bauchi State Coordinator of the NYSC, Umoren Kufre, gave the warning on Friday during the swearing-in ceremony of the 2025 Batch ‘C’ Stream 1 corps members at the permanent orientation camp in Wailo, Ganjuwa Local Government Area.

“I urge you to obey all rules and regulations guiding the NYSC. If you observe any irregularity, do not take the laws into your hands.

“Always use the appropriate channels of communication to express your grievances.

“Let me assure you that management will provide the basic amenities you require in camp. Your safety and comfort remain our utmost priority,” he said.

Kufre disclosed that 2,050 corps members were deployed to the state for the one-year mandatory service, adding that the orientation exercise had recorded no major challenges so far, with participants fully engaging in camp activities.

He commended Governor Bala Mohammed for his continuous support to the scheme, including the renovation of corps members’ hostels and the construction of a new multipurpose hall in the camp.

He also appealed for the reconstruction of a section of the perimeter fence that collapsed about a year ago.

Declaring the orientation programme open, Governor Bala Mohammed urged the corps members to be champions of national development and transformation.

Represented by the State Head of Service, Mohammed Umar, the governor advised the corps members to take their call to service seriously and commit to the NYSC’s objectives of unity and national growth.

Administering the oath of allegiance, Justice Rabi Umar, the State Chief Judge, represented by Abdullahi Yau, Deputy Registrar of the High Court of Justice, encouraged the corps members to maintain law and order throughout the orientation period.
