The Kaduna State Chapter of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) has cautioned that activist Omoyele Sowore’s current agenda poses a serious threat to national stability.
The Council called on Nigerian youths to reject what it described as attempts by “conflict entrepreneurs” to incite them into disruptive protests.
The warning followed reports of a planned nationwide protest tagged #FreeNnamdiKanuNow, allegedly being coordinated by Sowore, and linked to a recent security advisory issued by the U.S. Embassy.

In a statement signed by its Chairman, Comrade Umar Abubakar, the NYCN acknowledged that while peaceful protest remains a constitutional right, any action capable of undermining public peace or national unity should be rejected by patriotic citizens.
“We must resist those who thrive on chaos and disunity. Nigerian youths should not be used as instruments by conflict entrepreneurs whose only goal is to destabilize the nation,” the statement said.
The Council expressed concern over what it called the increasing misuse of activism as a tool for political agitation and incitement, describing the trend as dangerous and counterproductive.
According to the NYCN, such actions only serve to “deepen divisions and distract the country from addressing real developmental challenges.”
The Kaduna NYCN further described Sowore’s posture as “reckless and unpatriotic,” accusing him of exploiting Nigeria’s democratic freedoms for personal and political gain.
“Leadership is about responsibility and nation-building, not about fueling disorder or seeking attention through disruption,”
the Council added.
The group also cautioned against attempts to ridicule or discredit national leaders under the guise of activism, stressing that meaningful progress can only come through dialogue and constructive engagement rather than confrontation.
Reaffirming its commitment to peace and national unity, the NYCN Kaduna Chapter commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Minister of Youth Development, and Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani for their efforts in promoting youth empowerment and inclusion in governance.
The Council also praised the Kaduna State Commissioner for Youth Development for maintaining regular engagement with youth organizations across the state, describing such collaboration as essential to sustaining peace and progress.
