Twenty-nine year old, Nwobodo Uzochukwu, has emerged champion of Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah Boxing Championship .
Brilliant, 5.8 feet height, Nwobodo, who started his boxing career barely two years ago, defeated 6.2 feet height, Victor Arum in the Super- heavy weight category, in the raw, however, exciting amazing, technical and ruthless fight, at David’s Hills Entertainment Centre, Independence Layout, Enugu.
Nwobodo Uzochukwu who shocked boxing pundits as he courageously and with raw strength, took on 6.2 feet Victor Arum, in the thrilling and spectacular fight.
In another hotly contested fight, Chukwudubem Daniel, won Raphael Joshua, in the heavy -weight fight.
Kelechi Ugwu, showed no mercy, as he confronted, Chidera Orji, to win the Cruiser-weight category.
While Ozoemenam Shedrack, out- punched Kanayo Louis in the Middle- weight category as Emmanuel Ezenwa beat Chukwudi Ikenna in the light – weight fight.
Also in another fight, Ogbodo Israel defeated, Godsman Amaechi in the intense match, while Ochie Daniel lost to Theopilus Tor, in the light- weight fight.
Speaking at the event, sponsor and CEO, David’s Hills Entertainment Centre, David Ebubechukwu Nwobodo, pointed out that the Championship was designed to motivate and encourage young boxing talents develop their boxing skills and to help Enugu state produce world class boxers.
He enjoined the boxers to always go for glory, noting that pain was temporary, and that victory should be their watch- word.
Spectators who filled the arena were thrilled as they watched and cheered their preferred boxers, even as emotion ran riot.
Some dignitaries who watched the final fights, include the representative of Governor Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, SSA to the Governor on Legal Matters, Barrister Nnaji Eze, the Director Organising, Ministry of Youth and Sports, Mr Boniface Onovo , who represented the Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Barrister Lloyd Ikechukwu Ekweremadu, the sponsor of the Championship and CEO David”s Hills and Entertainment Centre, David Ebubechukwu Nwobdo, among other guests.
