The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has successfully foiled repeated bandit attacks on farmers in Nteng village, Deomak District.
The area is located within Qua’ran-Pan Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The operation, conducted in collaboration with the Nigerian Army and Police, was confirmed in a statement released on Friday, by NSCDC spokesperson, Afolabi Babawale.
The intervention followed directives from the Commandant General, Professor Ahmed Audi, who ordered the immediate deployment of a Special Intelligence Squad to address the rising insecurity in the region.
“In response to the marching order of the Commandant General, Prof. Ahmed Audi, we set up an intelligence-driven operational mechanism to forestall the incessant attacks against Nteng village,” said Commandant Apollos Dandaura, head of the squad.
Communities in Qua’ran-Pan have been targeted repeatedly by suspected bandits, who destroyed property, farm crops, and public infrastructure, leading to the displacement of over 4,000 residents.
“These attacks have caused loss of lives and the destruction of farms, health facilities, and homes. Many displaced persons are currently in a primary school serving as a temporary camp,” Dandaura added.
The success of the operation was attributed to strong collaboration among all security agencies, and a joint guard post has now been established in Nteng to maintain order.
“The synergy amongst the security agencies who worked relentlessly to safeguard the situation in Nteng village is highly commendable.
“The people are assured of safety especially communities like Doop, Keolakan, Jepmorop, and Gorom,” Dandaura emphasized.
As part of ongoing measures, the NSCDC has also conducted an assessment to prepare for the deployment of its Agro Rangers Squad.
The unit is tasked with protecting farmers, preventing further attacks, and promoting peaceful coexistence between farmers and herders.
“Our goal is to enhance security for farmers, protect farm crops, and prevent attacks on innocent citizens,” Dandaura concluded.
