Comptroller Godwin Otunla has taken over as the new Customs Area Controller of the Murtala Muhammed Airport Command (MMAC), promising to uphold the highest professional standards.
The new Customs Area Controller took over on Thursday, 27 November 2025, succeeding Comptroller Michael Awe, who retired after meritorious service to the fatherland.
In his inaugural address, Otunla described Awe as an excellent officer with high standards of discipline, who left a significant legacy at MMAC. He pledged to continue Awe’s legacy, focusing on trade facilitation, revenue generation, and anti-corruption efforts.
“I am committed to upholding the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and service delivery he left behind. Together, we shall raise the bar of performance and institutional integrity.”
“I am proud of what we have accomplished together, and I’m confident that the command will achieve greater heights and milestones under the new leadership,” he stated.
The outgoing Customs Area Controller also extended appreciation to President Bola Tinubu and the Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, for their unwavering support.
The high point of the event was the official handover of the command’s flag to Comptroller Otunla, witnessed by senior officers and stakeholders.
