The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has announced a temporary suspension of train services on the Port Harcourt to Aba route to conduct routine maintenance.
The suspension, effective immediately, is expected to last until September 9, 2025, when normal operations are scheduled to resume.
According to an official statement from the NRC, the maintenance work is necessary to ensure the safety and efficiency of the rail line, which connects key commercial hubs in Rivers and Abia states.
The corporation emphasized that the exercise aims to address wear and tear on the tracks and rolling stock, guaranteeing a smoother and safer travel experience for passengers.
The NRC apologized for any inconvenience caused to commuters and urged passengers to plan their travel accordingly.
The corporation also assured the public that efforts are being made to complete the maintenance swiftly and efficiently to minimize disruptions.
This suspension comes as the NRC continues to prioritize infrastructure upgrades to enhance rail services across Nigeria, with the Port Harcourt-Aba route being a critical link for both passengers and freight in the South-South and South-East regions.
Commuters are advised to stay updated through official NRC channels for further information on the resumption of services.
