The Chairman of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), Otunba Gbenga Elegbeleye, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of referee assessor, Mrs. Rachel Enagbare, describing her death as a significant loss to the league and the Nigerian football community at large.

Mrs. Enagbare was in Lagos to serve as the referee assessor for the NPFL Matchday 4 fixture between Ikorodu City and Barau FC. She was reportedly rushed to Havana Hospital in Surulere, where she sadly passed away due to complications from an undisclosed illness.

“The NPFL family is deeply saddened by the sudden and unexpected passing of Mrs. Enagbare, a respected former referee who had continued to contribute to the development of the game through her role as a match assessor,” Elegbeleye said.

“We extend our heartfelt condolences to her immediate family, friends, and the Nigeria Referees Association (NRA) during this difficult time.”
