Kano Pillars Football Club has condemned the unruly conduct of some fans following Sunday’s Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Matchday 8 clash with Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC), which ended 1-1 at the Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano.
In an official statement issued by the club’s Media and Communications Directorate on Sunday, Kano Pillars described the incident as “unfortunate” and attributed it to the actions of a few misguided individuals who attempted to cause disorder after the final whistle.
The club, however, commended the prompt intervention of security operatives and stewards, which helped restore order and prevent the situation from escalating.
“We are pleased to confirm that players of both teams and match officials all left the stadium and its vicinity unhurt and safely escorted by the security operatives,” the statement read.
Kano Pillars also confirmed that several culprits were apprehended and handed over to security agencies for further investigation and prosecution.
As part of its internal disciplinary measures, the club announced that all identified troublemakers will be banned from accessing the Sani Abacha Stadium for the next ten seasons.
“Kano Pillars FC will fully cooperate with the authorities to ensure that any individual found culpable faces the full wrath of the law,” the statement added.
The management reaffirmed its commitment to promoting peace, discipline, and a conducive football environment in line with NPFL and Nigeria Football Federation regulations, while urging fans to continue supporting the team in a peaceful and responsible manner.
