NPFL: Heartland licencing officer, Chukwu debunks sabotage allegations

Heartland’s licencing officer, Tonnex Chukwu, has debunked allegations that he failed to register the right players for the club.

Chukwu was accused of sabotaging the progress of the Naze Millionaires.

He described the allegations as baseless and shameless.

“On behalf of Heartland management and in particular my office, I want to debunk the baseless and shameless statement credited to our general manager, Promise Nwachukwu, in the media were he said the officers who are in charge of registration failed to do so to sabotage the club,” he told Heartland media.

“The statement is laughable and uncalled for, for the head of a club to resort to accusing officials of the club through the media.

“My defence is very straight with evidence, I worked tirelessly to ensure we were champions in the NNL last season.

“I registered all 32 players approved by Coach Christian Obi at the start of the 2023-24 NPFL season.

“During the mid-season transfer window I was giving 18 names of new players which all were registered with the knowledge of the Chief Coach Christian Obi and the General Manager, so where is the sabotage coming from?”

Heartland are currently languishing in 19th position in the table.
