Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, welcomed a Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) delegation, led by President Afam Josiah Osigwe, at Force Headquarters in Abuja to discuss the Motor Vehicles (Prohibition of Tinted Glass) Act, 1991.
The meeting fostered dialogue on enhancing Police-NBA collaboration to uphold the rule of law and public trust.
The Nigeria Police Force clarified that no court order currently restricts enforcement of the Act but announced a temporary suspension of enforcement, citing public interest and respect for the NBA.
This suspension will hold until the Federal High Court in Warri, Delta State, hears a related Motion on Notice on October 16, 2025.A joint Police-NBA Committee was established to strengthen ongoing cooperation on legal and enforcement issues.
The Police urged motorists to use this period to ensure compliance with tinted glass regulations and regularize vehicle documentation.
Egbetokun emphasized the Force’s dedication to enforcing laws fairly and transparently while fostering partnerships with justice system stakeholders.
