Nottingham Forest striker Taiwo Awoniyi could be on his way out of the City Ground after the club completed the signing of French forward Arnaud Kalimuendo from Rennes.
Kalimuendo, 23, arrives on the back of an impressive Ligue 1 campaign in which he netted 17 goals and registered three assists in 33 appearances.
His addition is set to increase competition in Forest’s attack, with Awoniyi now reportedly falling behind Chris Wood, Igor Jesus, and Kalimuendo in the pecking order.
According to Football Insider, Forest are prepared to part ways with the Nigerian international, who was left on the bench during the club’s 3-1 Premier League opener against Brentford.
With two weeks left in the transfer window, Awoniyi will be keen to secure a move that guarantees regular football, especially as he looks to retain his place in Nigeria’s squad ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
The Super Eagles face crucial fixtures against South Africa and Rwanda in September, needing victories to revive their qualification hopes following a poor start to the campaign.
