Abdulmumin Jibrin, who represents Kiru/Bebeji Federal
Constituency in the House of Representatives, says it should not surprise
anyone if he decides to leave the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).
Speaking in an interview with DCL Hausa, Jibrin explained
that although the Kwankwasiyya movement helped him return to the National
Assembly in 2023, he also made sacrifices for the party.
He said even the party (NNPP) itself said it is open to
negotiations with other parties, and he doesn’t have to follow on the party’s
path.
He added that even if they part ways politically, he would
always hold Kwankwaso in high regard and not insult him, just as he never
insulted former Kano Governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje despite their
differences.
On whether he is about to dump the NNPP, Jibrin said:
“Nothing is impossible. I can remain in NNPP, I can go back to APC, I can join
ADC or PDP or even PRP. I can go to wherever I like. Any time I decide, I will
make my position known.”
Although still a member of the opposition NNPP, Jibrin is
seen as close to President Bola Tinubu, having served as his campaign director
in 2023 before leaving the APC.
Just a few days ago, Jibrin told Channels Television that
Kwankwaso himself is open to rejoining the ruling party.
Hon Jibrin, though not an official mouthpiece of Kwankwaso
has been very vocal on possible move of the former governor to the APC.
He said Kwankwaso’s door is open to negotiations with the
ruling APC ahead of 2027.
