The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has issued new guidelines for reciting Nigeria’s national anthem.
The agency, in a directive released on Friday, 17 October 2025, outlined a four-point updated protocol for citizens and institutions.
In the directive, NOA stressed that only the first stanza should be recited at official events.
It directed that the third stanza should be recited as the National Prayer at the beginning of events.
More often than not, the agency maintained that the three stanzas are to be sung only during Independence Day, Inauguration of a President, Armed Forces Remembrance Day, Democracy Day, and the Inauguration of the National Assembly.
The National Pledge is to be recited at the end of an event.
