The pan Yoruba socio-political and socioc-ultural organisation, Afenifere, Wednesday, said there is no vacuum in the organisation’s leadership.
Afenifere in a statement by its national publicity secretary, Comrade Jare Ajayi, said Chief Reuben Fasoranti remains the national leader of Afenifere.
The message made available to journalists in Ibadan said Chief Fasoranti is still very much around.
“It is a known fact that the national leader of Afenifere, Chief Reuben Famuyide Fasoranti, OFR, is still very much around. He is not only hale and hearty, he is adroitly providing the requisite leadership – to the glory of God.
“In a situation where there is no vacuum, how do you talk of filling a vacancy that does not exist?
“Pa Fasoranti who is the leader of Afenifere and Asiwaju of the Yorubas is actively performing. Afenifere has a procedure for appointing its leader. The manner in which the one announced on Tuesday was done ‘is alien to Afenifere tradition.”
Comrade Ajayi added that the organisation is still mourning the demise of one of its highly respected leaders, Chief Ayo Adebanjo, adding, the focus of the organisation at the moment is on having a befitting burial for its erstwhile acting leader, Chief Adebanjo “and furthering the best interests of the Yoruba.”
