No One Owes You Anything — Betty Irabor 

 Veteran media personality Betty Irabor has advised her followers to stop setting themselves up for disappointment by depending and putting their hopes on people as no one owes them anything. 

According to her, the reason we get really disappointed when people don’t show up for us when we need them is because we’re expecting too much from the arms of flesh. And also feeling that they owe us!! 

“It is also delusional to think that because you show up for people all the time that there will be a reciprocal reaction. This is not an ideal world. People may genuinely mean well, but you may not be their priority and you should respect that. Having undue expectations of people only causes more disappointment. 

“I was speaking to a friend who was bereaved and she said humorously; ‘Betty, no one is coming to save you, no one is coming for you except God, so get ready for the long journey ahead 

“I guess we all at one point or the other experienced moments when we finally understood that OYO is our case. What did you do after you wiped your tears? How do you survive tough times when you have to depend on yourself and God.? Trust me, being emotional is not an option here.” 

According to her, some tips that may help in such situations include; finding practical solutions for one’s immediate needs, joining a network or community of people of similar interests, re-discovering and polishing up some new skills and seeing how it can be monetized, keep moving forward, however slowly, building resilience with
