The New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) Kano chapter has suspended four National Assembly members for alleged anti-party activities.
The suspended lawmakers are Senator Kawu Sumaila, Ali Madakin Gini, Sani Abdullahi Rogo, and Kabiru Alhassa Rurum, representing various constituencies in Kano state, including Kano South, Rano/Kibiya, Dala and Rogo/Karaye federal constituency.
According to Alhaji Hashimu Suleiman Dungurawa, the state chairman of the party, these members were elected under the NNPP platform but have recently been acting contrary to the party’s wishes, beliefs, and values.
Dungurawa stated that they were given complementary tickets during the party elections but began to work against the party’s interests after being elected.
A recent event where Senator Kawu commissioned projects at his university in Sumaila without inviting party members was cited as a clear indication of their anti-party activities.
Dungurawa said a committee would be set up to investigate the issue and address it once and for all.
Despite the suspension, Dungurawa emphasised that there was still room for dialogue, and if the suspended members repent and seek forgiveness, the party would consider their plea.

FCT Area Council polls: Stakeholders demand dialogue, laud Wike’s efforts
By Paul Okah
Abuja
Many residents of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), under the aegis of FCT Stakeholders Assembly (FSA), have expressed their appreciation for the infrastructural advancements carried out by the Minister of the FCT, Barrister Nyesom Wike.
In a statement on Monday, signed by the President of Assembly, Dr. Aliyu Daniel Baka Kwali, the stakeholders, drawn from the ranks of original inhabitants, residents, professional and trade organisations, hailed Wike’s ongoing efforts to enhance the city’s infrastructure.
According to Aliyu, since assuming office, Wike had implemented a series of ambitious projects aimed at improving transportation, healthcare, and public utilities in Abuja.
The assembly also commended the Minister’s commitment at engaging with local communities to identify their specific needs which ensured that the voices of FCT natives were heard and prioritised in the planning of infrastructure projects.
Meanwhile, the assembly requested the minister to facilitate a round table discussion with the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to iron out some concerns over the coming Area Councils elections in 2026 and 2027 general election in FCT.
He said: “Key developmental projects have littered every length and width of Abuja which include the expansion of road networks and the construction of new public schools, all of which have contributed to better living standards for residents.
“Under Barrister Wike’s leadership, we have witnessed tangible changes in our communities, the completion of these critical roadways has eased traffic congestion and also increased the beautification of the entire city of Abuja, which are very vital not just for today, but for the future of our territory.
“In addition to transportation and education, Wike has prioritised healthcare infrastructure, leading to the renovation and expansion of several primary healthcare centers throughout the FCT. This initiative has garnered significant praise from local health advocates, who believe that these upgrades will improve access to essential medical services in underserved areas.
“We will like our Minister to facilitate a meeting between the president Tinubu and the Assembly to say thank you to him for giving us Mr. Project as FCT minister and one of us as a minister for special Duties. Not only that Area Councils elections and general election are around the corner. So, we will like to see him to discuss some concerns to ensure victory.”
