NNPP Rejects Ghari/Tsanyawa Re-Run Result, Hails Victory In Shanono/Bagwai Bye-Election

The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in Kano State has formally rejected the outcome of the Ghari/Tsanyawa State Assembly re-run election, alleging widespread manipulation and collusion between politicians and officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Addressing newsmen, the state chairman, Comrade Hashimu Sulaiman Dungurawa, accused INEC of “denying electorates their rights” after declaring the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate the winner of the poll.

The party stated that the election was supposed to be conducted in 10 polling units that had previously been nullified by the Court of Appeal. However, NNPP claimed that INEC disregarded the court’s decision by cancelling results from those units and reinstating the earlier results already invalidated by the judiciary.

“In Ghari Local Government, the re-run was conducted peacefully at the 10 polling units, but through manipulation by some unpatriotic politicians who connived with INEC officials, the APC candidate was declared winner,” the party asserted.

NNPP further criticized INEC for declaring the result at its state headquarters in Kano instead of the constituency collation centre, alleging that this move created opportunities for result manipulation.

The party pledged to continue resisting what it described as injustice, favoritism, and electoral fraud, emphasizing that presiding officers at the polling units had already signed results that should have been upheld.

In contrast, NNPP commended the conduct of the Shanono/Bagwai bye-election, where its candidate emerged victorious. The party described the process as credible, lauding security agencies for providing an enabling environment and praising voters for their strong turnout.

“We salute the courage of our people who stood with us and voted for the NNPP candidates in all the re-run and bye-elections,” Dungurawa added.

As of the time of reporting, neither INEC nor opposition parties have issued statements responding to the NNPP’s claims.
