French forward Christopher Nkunku has completed a permanent move from Chelsea to AC Milan, the Serie A club confirmed on Saturday.

“AC Milan is delighted to announce the permanent signing of Christopher Nkunku from Chelsea FC. The French forward has signed a contract with the Club until 30 June 2030,” Milan said in an official statement.

According to Italian media, the deal is worth €37 million, potentially rising to €42 million with add-ons.

Nkunku, 27, scored 18 goals in 62 appearances for Chelsea after joining from RB Leipzig in 2023. However, his time in England was marred by injuries and limited opportunities, often finding himself behind Nicolas Jackson in the pecking order under coach Enzo Maresca.

With the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the USA, Canada, and Mexico fast approaching, Nkunku will be hoping to reignite his career in Milan and secure a place in Didier Deschamps’ France squad. He has so far managed 14 caps and one international goal, scored against Israel in the Nations League last October.

Milan, coached by Massimiliano Allegri, are aiming to bounce back from a disappointing eighth-place finish in Serie A last season that left them without European football. The Rossoneri began their new campaign with three points from two games, including Friday’s 2-0 win over Lecce.
