Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) is set to hold it 35th anniversary celebration in the Federal Capital Territory(FCT).

According to Chairman, NIPR FCT, Stanley Ogadigo while briefing newsmen in Abuja on Monday, said the theme of the anniversary “Leadership for Inclusive Development and Nation Branding,” was carefully chosen to reflect the prime role leadership plays in the development of the society and nation building.

He  emphasised the new narrative of public relations as a leadership function which is championed by the global body of public relations.

According to him as public relations professionals, we recognise that we have a sacred responsibility to help reshape narratives, build bridges of understanding, and position our nation for sustainable development.

“We believe that true leadership must be inclusive, cutting across sectors, demographics, and backgrounds. It must carry everyone along to achieve the desired national growth.

“The anniversary is not about us celebrating ourselves. It is about giving back to the society that has nurtured us,” he said.

He explained the initiative reflects NIPRs commitment to environmental sustainability.

“We want to ensure that students, researchers, and policy makers have access to quality PR literature that will enhance their understanding of strategic communication.

“We have already engaged students across FCT through our Essay, Debate, and Paper Presentation Competition held on November 8, 2025. Seven schools participated, including the University of Abuja, Bingham University, and several government secondary schools.

“This competition is designed to spark interest in public relations as a career and develop critical thinking skills among young people.

“This is in addition to the Public Relations & Leadership Clubs in secondary schools across the FCT which the chapter recently inaugurated. This initiative is aimed at introducing students to the fundamentals of communication, leadership, and reputation management from an early age.”

He also urged  young Nigerians to consider public relations as a viable and impactful career.

“In an age dominated by social media, artificial intelligence, and digital communication, strategic communication professionals are more relevant than ever.

“This 35th anniversary is more than a celebration, it is a recommitment to excellence, service, and nation building,” he said.
