“Thunderstorms with moderate rains are forecast over most parts of the central region later in the day.”

In the southern region, moderate rains are expected in Ekiti, Ondo, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, and Cross River states, with cloudy skies over most parts of the south later in the day.

NiMet also warned: “Residents should fasten loose objects, disconnect electrical appliances, and avoid tall trees to reduce risks during storms.

“Motorists should drive cautiously, and farmers are advised not to apply fertilizer or pesticides before rainfall to prevent nutrient leaching.”

The agency added, “Airline operators must obtain airport-specific weather reports to ensure safe operational planning, as weather conditions may affect flights.”

The forecast continues on Tuesday and Wednesday, with thunderstorms expected in several northern, central, and southern states.

“We urge residents to remain vigilant as heavy rains, thunderstorms, and potential flash floods could disrupt daily activities and transportation,” NiMet concluded.
