NIHSA reaffirms commitment to monitoring nation’s water resources

The director general/CEO of the Nigeria Hydrological Services Agency (NIHSA), Umar Ibrahim Mohammed,  Wednesday reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to ensuring effective and efficient monitoring and assessment of the nation’s water resources through Hydrological data information.

The director general, while speaking at a forum with Navy team during a courtesy visit to the agency’s office in Abuja spoke on the newly created department of the agency.

The DG expressed his enthusiasm for the agency, stating  that it is essential for enhanced hydrological data information for the sustainable management and development of the nation’s water resources to foster socio economic growth in Nigeria.

The technical advisor to the director general, Mr Stephen Jabo,  said the partnership will aid the newly created department of the agency to take off on a good note. 

Jabo also pointed out the area of collaboration with the Nigerian Navy and highlighted the need for improved security concerns at the coastal lines, devoid of pollution and the mode of operation with regards to the marshy coastal environment as well as the need for special boat for operations.

Acting director, Marine and Coastal Hydrology, John Gbadegesin on his part reiterated the  need for support,  saying   it will aid the newly created department.
