Nigerians Tired Of Empty Political Promises – ADC Chairman David Mark

The National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), David Mark, on Tuesday, said Nigerians are weary of political slogans and misleading statistics.

He noted that such empty rhetoric has failed to improve the daily lives of citizens across the country.

Speaking during the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) meeting in Abuja, Mark said the ADC was founded on the conviction that Nigeria can work for everyone, stressing that the party is built on values rather than personalities.

“What makes the ADC different is simple: we will be a party of purpose and determination, not impulses  an institution that champions democratic values and accountability across all its organs and governments,” Mark stated.

He highlighted four non-negotiable leadership standards  character, competence, courage, and discipline  which he said would guide the ADC in all its operations.

“Leadership must never be about self-interest; it must be about service and sacrifice,” he added.

The former Senate President emphasized the need for internal democracy, transparency, and inclusion within the party, adding that “the supremacy of the party’s constitution and institutions will always override personal interests.”

Mark also announced a new integrity and performance compact anchored on open governance, merit-based appointments, clean elections, and citizen-centered service delivery.

He said, “We must rebuild trust in leadership by showing that public office is a call to duty, not an avenue for enrichment.”

He noted that the ADC would ensure the inclusion of women, youth, farmers, and persons with disabilities in its programs.

According to him, the party will uphold the separation of powers, restore judicial independence, and ensure that budgets serve the public interest through transparency and accountability.

“We will focus on what works. Nigerians are tired of slogans and statistics that do not translate into their welfare,” Mark added.

He pledged that the ADC would support farmers, strengthen small businesses, and ensure the transparent use of public funds to deliver tangible improvements in citizens’ lives.

“Our mission is to return governance to the people and make leadership accountable to every Nigerian,” he concluded.
