The Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, has
stated that Nigerians should be grateful for the progress being made in the
fight against insecurity in the country.
General Musa made the remark on Thursday while responding to
questions in an interview on Politics Today, a programme on Channels
Television.
He noted that the Nigerian Armed Forces have made
significant strides, citing the arrest of the son of the Boko Haram founder as
well as Ansaru commanders.
According to him, insecurity cannot be eradicated overnight,
emphasising that no country in the world is entirely free from security
challenges.
“I think we should be very grateful that things are really
picking up. I don’t think there’s any country that has 100% peace.
“Sixteen years, we’ve been like this; it’s not something,
within two years, that we will be able to stop. But I can tell you, we’ve made
giant strides. We just mentioned the Ansaru commanders that were arrested. This
is one of the most significant arrests that have been made; getting the two of
them shows how detailed the planning was,” he said.
