Nigerian Swimmer Claims Historic Medal At World Junior Championship


Abdul Jabar Adama made history as he has become the first-ever Nigerian swimmer to win a medal at the World Aquatics Junior Swimming Championships.

According to Making of Champions, Adama won a silver medal in the men’s 50m Butterfly at the championship in Romania, clocking a time of 23.64s

The gold medal was won by Great Britain’s Dean Fearn who placed first with a time of 23.54s.

The 17-year-old did not just win Nigeria’s first global medal at the swimming championship in Romania, he broke two Nigerian Records in one day en route winning a historic medal.

Coming into the championships, his Nigerian record stood at 23.81s, he then lowered it to 23.61s in the preliminaries and then clocked 23.48s in the semi-finals.
