1. One person has been confirmed dead, six seriously injured and 30 trapped when a mine site collapsed in Galkogo village of Shiroro local government area of Niger State. The site is said to belong to African Minerals and Logistics Limited.

2. President Bola Tinubu has directed the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economic, Wale Edun, to calculate the cost implications of a new national minimum wage. He gave the directive at the State House on Tuesday during a meeting with members of the federal government’s negotiation team, which met with the organised labour on Monday leading to the suspension of a nationwide industrial strike called by the Organised Labour.

3. President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday approved the naming of the full-scope Arterial road N20 from Northern Parkway to the Outer Northern Expressway (otherwise called the Murtala Mohammed Expressway), as the Wole Soyinka Way.

4. The Police Service Commission (PSC) has announced the approval and release of a list of 10,000 successful applicants for recruitment into the constable and specialist cadres of the Nigeria Police Force. PSC said the successful applicants spread across the 774 LGAs in the country.

5. The Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission has said it would mandate international oil companies to supply crude oil to the Dangote oil refinery. The spokesperson for the NUPRC, Olaide Shonola, said the commission was intervening to ensure the local sale of crude to Dangote and other refineries in the country.

6. The House of Representatives has expressed its support for the legal action taken by the Federal Government against the 36 states of the federation to enforce the autonomy of the local governments. In an interview on Tuesday, the deputy spokesman for the House of Reps, Philip Agbese, said the House was in total support of reforms that would uplift the well-being of our citizenry.

7. International credit rating agency, Fitch Ratings, has projected that the Nigerian currency, the naira, will end the year at 1,450 to the United States of American dollars. This was disclosed by the Director, Sovereigns, at Fitch Ratings, Gaimin Nonyane, during a post-sovereign rating webinar on Tuesday focused on Nigeria and Egypt.

8. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has approved the extension of the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) in Edo and Ondo states scheduled to end Thursday, till Sunday June 9, to enable more eligible persons to register for the off-cycle governorship elections in the states.

9. Bandits have abducted no fewer than 26 persons in Niger State communities. It was gathered on Tuesday that the incident occurred in Mashegu and Shiroro Local Government Areas of the state on Sunday and Monday.

10. Joseph Aloba, father to the late singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, aka Mohbad, was on Monday grilled by officers of the Force Criminal Investigation Department, Alagbon in the Ikoyi area of Lagos State over a petition filed by Oba Saheed Elegushi. The head of the Aloba legal team, Monisola Odumosu, in a statement on Tuesday, said the petition borders on cyberbullying, cyberstalking, and criminal defamation.
