Prof Uche Azikiwe, the 78-year widow of the late Nigerian leader, Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe as posited that Nigerian leaders must not only be educated but must also promote education among the citizenry.

The Septuagenarian took the position while giving the vote of thanks on behalf of all the recipients of the Independent Newspapers’ Education Summit and Awards on Thursday.

She recalled that the trio of Sir Ahmadu Bello, Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe and Chief Obafemi Awolowo who were the frontline Nigerian political leaders were all thoroughly and displayed total commitment to the education of the Nigerian children of their time.

She concluded that it would be therefore, a shame not to uphold the legacy of quality education which these founding fathers Nigeria had laid before they all passed on.
