Nigerian Law School DG, Chiroma,Thanks Tinubu, Wike For Interventions In Legal Education


Professor Isa Hayatu Chiroma, the Life Bencher and Director General of Nigerian Law School, has praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, for their interventions in education in the country, particularly legal education.

Speaking during the flag-off of the construction of 300-capacity male and female hostels at the Nigerian Law School,  Bwari, Abuja, Professor Chiroma said the facilities would go a long way in assisting the Law School achieve it’s mandates, also expressing gratitude to the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Prince Lateef Olasunkanmi Fagbemi, among others.

He said; “I am pleased to welcome you all, particularly, His Excellency, The Honourable Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Chief Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, to the official flag-off ceremony for the construction of male and female students’ hostels at the Nigerian Law School Bwari, Abuja.

“You may recall that in December 2024 during the flag-off ceremony for the construction of 10 units of staff quarters and donation of vehicles to the Nigerian Law School, His Excellency, the Honourable Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Chief Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, promised to make a budgetary provision in 2025 for the building of 300-bed space students’ hostels for male and female students at the Nigerian Law School Bwari, Abuja to assist the Nigerian Law School.

“The reason why we all gathered here this morning Your Excellency, distinguished ladies and gentlemen is the fulfilment of the promise made, flag-off for the construction of 300-bed space hostels each for male and female hostels at the Nigerian Law School, Bwari, Abuja.

“These hostels will go a long way in assisting the Nigerian Law School to fulfill its mandate. We are not taking this gesture for granted.

“On behalf of the Council of Legal Education, Nigerian Law School, management, staff and students, I respectfully thank His Excellency, President of Federal Republic of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for approving this project. I wish also to thank our supervisory ministry, the Federal Ministry of Justice headed by the Honourable Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Prince Lateef Olasunkanmi Fagbemi, Life Bencher, for the support always given to the Nigerian Law School. I must also place on record the support and assistance of the Solicitor General of the Federation and Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Justice, Mrs. Beatrice Jedy-Agba.”

Professor Chiroma recalled what he said is the antecedents of the FCT Minister, revealing that he had done more in the past to assist the legal education

“Your Excellency, the Honourable Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, to many of us who are familiar with your antecedents, it is history that is repeating itself. You have done more in the past. The Graham Douglas Campus of the Law School in Port Harcourt, the Yenagoa Campus, building of staff quarters and provision of utility vehicles to the Nigerian Law School, and other projects in the justice sector are legacy projects that will continue to speak for your developmental strive in Nigeria. Posterity will be kind to you when the history of Legal education and justice sector is written in Nigeria.

“I want to once again place on record our sincere appreciation to His Excellency, the Honourable Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Chief Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, Life Bencher (our great benefactor), the Ministry of Federal Capital Territory for your kind interventions and huge support for legal education and the Nigerian Law School in particular,” he said.
