Nigerian box office rakes in ₦573m in October, one of its best months this year


The Nigerian box office witnessed one of its strongest months this year, generating a total of ₦573.2 million between late September and October 2025. Two films, “Gingerrr” and “The Herd,” led the way, dominating cinemas across the country.

These two movies dominated cinemas across the country, highlighting the increasing popularity of local films and the trend of Nigerians opting for homegrown stories, even in the face of higher ticket prices.

Gingerrr led the charts in the box office with ₦435.5 million, followed by The Herd with ₦137.7 million. These results surpassed numerous international releases, highlighting the increasing impact of Nigerian filmmakers on the nation’s entertainment industry.

Directed by Yemi Morafa and produced by Bolaji Ogunmola, Kiekie, and Bisola Aiyeola, Gingerrr became a hit, earning ₦82.8 million in its opening weekend and maintaining strong performance for six weeks, thanks to its fast-paced humour, energetic cast, and vibrant storytelling.
