Renowned Nigerian blockchain community, the Blockchain Nigeria User Group (BNUG) has announced its 2024 conference, the Decentralized Intelligence V-2 Conference. The event is billed to take place between October 10–11, 2024 in Lagos and it will accommodate a hybrid participation.
According to the statement shared with Technext, this year’s edition marks the 15th of the annual national Blockchain conference series.
Founded in 2017 by Chimezie Chuta, BNUG is dedicated to promoting Blockchain technology and its adoption across Nigeria. The community organises blockchain conferences, workshops, and community engagement initiatives to foster innovation and education in the decentralised technology space, especially in Nigeria.
This year’s event with the theme Decentralized Intelligence V-2, will take place from October 10–11, 2024, at The Civic Center, Victoria Island, Lagos, Nigeria. Also, the event theme – Intelligence Unleashed with Decentralization in Action – will explore the transformative potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in conjunction with Blockchain technology and Web3.
The conference, organised in collaboration with the National Blockchain Policy Steering Committee (NBPSC), is expected to have the Minister of Communications, Innovation & Digital Economy, Dr. ‘Bosun Tijani as the Special Guest of Honour, while Dr. Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, Director-General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), will deliver the Lead Keynote.
Other than delving into how innovative technologies align with Nigeria’s National AI Policy, the conference will examine the newly introduced National Blockchain Policy to accelerate the country’s technological and economic growth. It will also serve as a comprehensive expose of how emerging technologies are revolutionising the future of decentralisation, redefining data ownership, enhancing transparency, and driving forward new business models in various industries.
Other confirmed speakers at the event include; Chioma Onyekelu, CCI, CAMS – Certified Crypto Blockchain Investigator (A & D Forensics), Alvin Rume Ophi, Ebikewenemor – Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC), Ugochukwu John Nwaokike – Paystack Payments Limited, Abdullahi Tukur – EFCC, Lucy Peace Onwuka – NFIU, among others.
