Troops from the Nigerian Army’s 6 Brigade, operating under Sector 3 of Operation WHIRL STROKE (OPWS), have successfully eliminated two terrorists and seized weapons in Taraba State.
According to Daily Post, the Acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations for 3 Division, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, confirmed on Tuesday that the success was achieved during a counter-terrorism operation in Takum Local Government Area of the state.
“The mission was carried out under the ongoing Operation Lafiya Nakowa, aimed at eradicating criminal and terrorist activities in the region,” the statement noted.

The operation was launched on September 15 following credible intelligence about a planned attack on the Chanchanji community by members of the Bojo terrorist group.
“Troops were swiftly deployed and engaged the terrorists in a firefight along the Demeva–Chanchanji road, resulting in the death of one terrorist and the retreat of the remaining assailants,” the statement added.
A subsequent pursuit operation led troops to the Demeva–Gbudu axis, a suspected escape route towards the Ananum community in Donga Council of Taraba. There, soldiers engaged the hoodlums in another exchange of gunfire, neutralizing an additional terrorist.
Recovered items from both operations include one G3 rifle, 16 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, and one motorcycle.
Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, commander of the 6 Brigade, commended the troops for their bravery and professionalism during the operations.
He reaffirmed the Brigade’s commitment to sustained offensive operations against criminal elements threatening the peace and security of Taraba State.
General Uwa also urged residents to remain vigilant and provide timely, actionable intelligence to security agencies, highlighting the crucial role of civilian cooperation in maintaining lasting peace in the region.
