Nigerian Army Neutralizes Two Lakurawa Terrorists in Sokoto Ambush

On Saturday, Nigerian Army troops ambushed and killed two suspected Lakurawa terror group members in Mano community, Tangaza Local Government Area, Sokoto State, as they attempted to purchase food supplies.

Major Chukuma, the Army Operations Officer overseeing Tangaza, Gudu, Binji, and Silame LGAs, confirmed the operation.

“Our troops engaged the terrorists at the market. Following a brief firefight, two were eliminated, and we recovered three rifles and five motorcycles.

The remaining terrorists fled into the forest, and our forces are in pursuit,” he stated.A local eyewitness, speaking to The Punch on Sunday, expressed relief at the swift operation.

“We saw the bandits trying to buy food when the soldiers struck. After the gunfire, two were dead. This brings us hope after enduring so much suffering,” the witness said.

For years, border communities in Tangaza, Gudu, and Argungu in Kebbi State have faced relentless attacks from the Lakurawa group, which exploits the porous Nigeria-Niger Republic border.

Alhaji Umar Bello, a community elder, hailed the operation as a positive step. “These bandits kill our people and steal our cattle at will.

This action shows the government is listening. We pray the army continues until the threat is eradicated,” he said.
