Nigeria will receive two loans totalling $750 million from the World Bank on Tuesday, according to the bank’s official website.
The loans are targeted at improving Nigeria’s healthcare security and expanding access to climate-resilient digital infrastructure in underserved areas.
One is the $500 million facility, termed Building Resilient Digital Infrastructure for Growth in Nigeria (BRIDGE), while the other is a $250m loan under the Health Security Programme in Western and Central Africa, Nigeria – Phase II.
The BRIDGE project is led by the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy and is targeted at boosting the nation’s broadband access across unserved and underserved areas of Nigeria.
It is aimed at the development of climate-resilient broadband infrastructure to bridge structural gaps and bring internet access to rural and remote communities.
