Prof. Osita Ogbu, the former Economic Adviser to former President Olusegun Obasanjo, has challenged the Federal Government to pay more attention to the youths, starting that the youth demography are the future of Nigeria.

Prof. Ogbu made the challenge in Abuja during a book reading event for his recently published book titled “Development As Attitude: How National Progress is Shaped by Leadership Philosophy and Citizens’ Orientation”.

The event which was hosted by Nnanna Udeh was an opportunity for an insightful exploration of transformative mindsets for Nigeria’s development and Africa’s renaissance.

Prof. Ogbu said that Nigerian youths are doing amazingly well in several global fields, notably, sports, music, movies and other form of entertainment, and if a conducive environment is provided by the government, they would do well, and make the country proud

Prof. Ogbu made reference to his experiences in France, US, UK, and other parts of the world where Nigerian music and movie, as well as comical shows are being celebrated.

Prof. Ogbu suggested that government develop strategies that will allow the youths maximise their potentials thereby contributing to the socioeconomic development of Nigeria.

He said his new book is a must-read for people in government and corporate organisations, as it contains a deep knowledge on how to drive the needed development in Nigeria and beyond.

He also highlighted the growing public distrust in government, suggesting that the National Orientation Agency be properly funded and empowered to drive the national integration agenda.

On his side, the host, Nnanna Udeh, said the private sector is already tapping in the knowledge contained in the book for personal and collective growth and development.

He said the Nigerian Economic Summit Group has ordered over 100 copies for distribution across its different cohort for teaching and empowerment of the people.
