Nigeria, Brazil Strengthen Bilateral Ties On Energy, Infrastructure, Others

ABUJA – The Brazilian Minister of Foreign Affairs Mauro Vieira on Wednesday led a high-level Brazilian delegation to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Amb. Maitama Tuggar in Abuja to strengthen bilateral relations between Nigeria and Brazil.

The areas of focus include cooperation in sectors like agriculture, energy, and infrastructure. Among others.

The move is a reflection of both countries’ long-standing partnership that dates back to Nigeria’s independence in 1960.

The visit will include high-level discussions between the Brazilian delegation and Nigerian officials, with the signing of many important agreements expected.

At the meeting, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar highlighted that the countries have sizable populations, robust economy, and common cultural links.

According to the Minister, the visit as a natural step in the progression of the longstanding relationship between Nigeria and Brazil.

Amb. Tuggar also spoke about the historical collaboration between the two countries and acknowledged President Bola Tinubu’s participation in the 2024 G20 summit in Brazil, which has further which further solidified their diplomatic relations.

On his part, Minister Viera said that he had previously met with Nigerian authorities in Dubai in 2023 and that he had been in Addis Ababa in 2024 for meetings with President Tinubu and President Lula of Brazil.

The minister from Brazil also invited President Tinubu to Brazil soon and commended him for his participation at the G20 discussion.

Viera stressed the importance of strategic communication between the two countries, looking into deeper connections in a range of areas, such as education, economics, and culture.

Equally, the Minister noted Nigerians’ presence in Brazilian culture and society to deepensb the two nations’ relationship.
