President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has assured Nigerians that the country is making steady progress in the fight against insecurity, insisting that security forces are gaining the upper hand against terrorism, banditry, and violent crimes.
In a nationwide broadcast to mark Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary, the president commended the resilience of the armed forces and other security agencies, noting that their intensified operations have restored peace to several previously troubled areas.
According to him, many displaced persons in the North-East and North-West have been able to return home as a result of recent military successes. Tinubu described the sacrifices of security personnel as central to safeguarding the nation and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening national security as a foundation for economic recovery and development.
“We are working diligently to enhance national security, ensuring our economy experiences improved growth and performance,” he said. “The officers and men of our armed forces and other security agencies are working tirelessly and making significant sacrifices to keep us safe. They are winning the war against terrorism, banditry and other violent crimes. We see their victories in their blood and sweat to stamp out Boko Haram terror in the North-East, IPOB/ESN terror in the South-East, and banditry and kidnapping across the country.”
The president urged Nigerians to celebrate the gallantry of the country’s security forces, stressing that their efforts have made it possible for hundreds of communities to regain peace.
