A group of businessmen and entrepreneurs have stressed the role of everyone, particularly youths, in reshaping Nigeria’s narrative toward growth and development.
They spoke at the New Generation Chapter (NGC) Summit with the theme ‘Nigeria: Build, Navigate and the Future’, held on Wednesday in Lagos.
The summit was organised by Full Gospel Business Men’s Fellowship International (FGBMFI) Nigeria NGC, South-West 7 District.
The event created a platform for leaders to share insights and experiences, encouraging young people to take proactive steps in contributing to national development.
Speaking, an entrepreneur, pilot and aircraft engineer, Mr Isaac Balami, said the nation must believe more in its people, especially its youth.
According to him, leaders should be inspired to act. “If you see a young person doing great, support them; governors can do a lot,” he said.
Balami urged youths to remain focused, determined and hardworking, stressing that “there is no free meal in a free town, and no shortcut to wealth creation.”
He added that the hard way remained the surest path. “If you build on that foundation, it will last. No matter how small, start something,” he said.
Also speaking, Co-Founder and Director of Wakacredit, Mr Okey Ukachukwu, advised youths to be bold, courageous, and willing to be different.
He noted that many now believe the country cannot work, or feel compelled to relocate abroad. But he urged young people to think differently.
“I am a big advocate of travelling for education. However, the fulfilment you gain building your country here is unmatched anywhere else,” he said.
Ukachukwu added: “All we really need to do is become the change we want to see in Nigeria.”
In his remarks, Dr Obi Onwuakpa, Acting District Coordinator, FGBMFI NGC, South-West 7, urged members to chart a new course for the nation.
“The theme is not just a phrase. It is a prophetic charge, divine assignment, and clarion call to action.
“To build is to take responsibility, to navigate is to exercise vision and direction. Shaping the future requires today’s decisions that tomorrow will reward,” he said. (NAN)
