Nigeria 1-1 Benin (3-1 agg.): Plumptre shines as Super Falcons extend elite WAFCON record

Nigeria’s Super Falcons have booked their spot at the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations that will again be hosted by Morocco, Soccernet.ng reports.

The Super Falcons qualified for the continental showpiece following a 3-1 aggregate victory over Benin Republic.

Nigeria claimed a 2-0 win over the Beninoise when the two teams met in the first leg of the final qualifiers in Lome, Togo, last week. Esther Okoronkwo and Chinwendu Ihezuo were the goalscorers for the Falcons.

The reigning African champions then got the job done with another fine display to secure a 1-1 draw the Amazons in the return fixture played at the Moshood Abiola Stadium in Abeokuta on Tuesday evening.

Al-Ittihad defender Ashleigh Plumptre got the ball rolling for the Super Falcons as she headed home the opening goal from a delicious Esther Okoronkwo corner kick in the 12th minute.

More details shortly.
