Niger, Mali, Burkina Faso Set To Expose Nigerian Politicians Aiding Bandits

Intelligence agencies in Niger, Mali, and Burkina Faso have announced plans to unveil the identities of senior Nigerian politicians allegedly linked to bandit groups operating in Nigeria’s North-West region.

The disclosure was first reported by the Hausa service of Deutsche Welle (DW) and later confirmed by renowned security analyst, Zagazola Makama, who shared a translated version of the report on his official X handle on Monday.

According to officials of the three Sahelian nations, they have compiled the names of several Nigerian politicians suspected of providing financial or logistical support to the criminal gangs responsible for widespread violence in the region.

The agencies further revealed that some individuals believed to be involved in the supply of arms to the bandits have already been arrested, and investigations into their activities are currently ongoing.

Authorities stated that the planned exposure is part of a broader regional effort aimed at dismantling cross-border criminal networks that have contributed to growing insecurity across West Africa.

This development underscores the increasing security cooperation among Sahelian states, particularly in combating armed groups and disrupting the illicit arms trade that has long fueled violence in Nigeria and its neighboring countries.
