Newcastle United captain Bruno Guimaraes says it’s been tough for the team to be playing without a recognized striker.
Isak has not kicked a ball for the Magpies in anger since the final game of last season against Everton at St James’ Park after going public with his desire to leave the club.
On the field, Isak’s absence has clearly had an impact with United missing a hateful of chances against Aston Villa and relying on Bruno to get the club’s first goal of the season in the narrow 3-2 defeat to Liverpool on Monday night.

Newcastle skipper Bruno, speaking to ESPN, said: “We’re really missing our striker, a player who scored more than 20 goals in the Premier League last season, so of course, he’s someone we feel the absence of.
“We hope to have our best player back, but unfortunately, this is a situation that neither I nor any other player can control.”
