It was a moment of joy and celebration last Sunday as a new section birthed in Dopemu area of Agege, under the Lagos District of the Assemblies of God Church.
The newly created section, headquartered at Ogunjimi in Agbotikuyo area of Agege, was formally inaugurated by Rev. Uche Godson Ukasoanya, the District Superintendent, and his Presbyters at Lagos District, Assemblies of God, with the aim of taking the gospel of God closer to men and expanding His kingdom.
The District Superintendent said that establishing a news section was not to satisfy personal ego, make a personal impression, or just do it for the sake of others doing it.
He reaffirmed that it was Biblical a mission of spreading the gospel of the kingdom, drawing from the Bible passage in the book of Matthew 24, verse 14, which says: “And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and the end will come.’’
Rev. Ukasoanya said: “Somebody called me and asked: ‘Why do we create districts and sections? What is the purpose?’
“I said we don’t create districts and sections to satisfy our ego or to create an impression, or to follow others. In other words, because every other person is doing it, let us just do it, or to satisfy political sycophancy, or religious thoughts.
“No. God’s work must be done in God’s way to bring God’s blessings.”
He said the mission of the kingdom must be done in the right way, for the right reason, and for the right purpose to expand the kingdom in line with the scripture.
Rev. Ukasoanya, therefore, charged the leadership of the new section to brace up and ensure they carried out their tasks without any coloration.
He reminded the members that establishing more churches, sections, and districts is for the gospel of the kingdom to be preached.
‘’I want to believe that the Dopemu section will understand that your creation should occupy that dear place in the heart of God; the fact that the kingdom message was produced.
