The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has launched a robust flood preparedness campaign across four Local Government Areas (LGAs) in Bauchi State: Shira, Giade, Jama’are, and Itas Gadau, with Shira LGA as the campaign’s hub.
Spearheaded by Ummuna Ahmed, Head of Operations, the initiative aims to bolster community resilience against seasonal flooding through early warning systems, stakeholder partnerships, and grassroots engagement.
Ahmed emphasized that proactive preparedness is key to minimizing loss of life and property during disasters.
NEMA’s Gombe Operations Office shared on X that the campaign focuses on strengthening disaster readiness through collaboration with local leaders, security agencies like the DSS and NSCDC, and LGA officials.
The Chairmen of the four LGAs warmly welcomed the initiative, pledging support for community-based disaster risk reduction efforts.
