The North‑East Development Commission (NEDC) today handed over blankets and mats to Almajiri schools in the Buni Yadi communities of Gujba Local Government Area.
The distribution, led by NEDC’s Yobe State Coordinator, Professor Ali Ibrahim Abbas, also included an inspection of newly‑installed solar boreholes in the area. Professor Abbas said the Managing Director of NEDC, Mohammed Goni Alkali, had personally tasked him with heading the team.
During the ceremony, Professor Abbas praised the Yobe State Government for its “support and cooperation,” noting that such partnership was crucial to the commission’s efforts to improve living conditions for residents of the north‑east.
On behalf of the beneficiaries, Islamic cleric and proprietor of the Almajiri schools, Muhammadu Rabiu Mai Bataliya, expressed gratitude to NEDC, stating that the aid would “go a long way in alleviating our sufferings.”
The gesture marks the latest in NEDC’s ongoing initiatives to provide essential relief and sustainable infrastructure to vulnerable communities across the region.
