The National Examinations Council (NECO) has announced the release of the 2025 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) Internal results, with 60.26% of candidates achieving five credits or more, including the critical subjects of English Language and Mathematics.
The results, released on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at NECO’s headquarters in Minna, Niger State, mark the conclusion of the examination process that ran from June 16 to July 25, 2025.
NECO Registrar and Chief Executive, Professor Dantani Ibrahim Wushishi, disclosed during a press briefing that 818,492 candidates recorded five credits and above, representing 60.26% of the total candidates who sat for the examination.
“This performance reflects the dedication of students and the council’s commitment to maintaining a credible examination process,” Wushishi stated.
The exams, which included both practical and written papers across various subjects, saw significant participation from final-year secondary school students nationwide.
Candidates can now access their results online via the official NECO results portal at https://results.neco.gov.ng.
To check their scores, candidates must purchase a NECO Result Checking Token, select “SSCE Internal (JUN/JUL)” as the exam type, and enter their registration number.
Wushishi noted that the token system, which allows up to five result checks, ensures a secure and efficient process.
He also advised candidates to verify their examination numbers to avoid errors, as issues such as invalid tokens or incorrect exam types have caused delays for some.
Addressing examination malpractice, Wushishi reported a decline in incidents compared to previous years, though specific figures for 2025 were not disclosed.
He emphasized NECO’s stringent measures, including the blacklisting of supervisors and centers involved in unethical practices.
The registrar expressed gratitude to the Minister of Education, Maruf Tunji Alausa, and the Minister of State for Education, Prof. Suwaiba Said Ahmad, for their support in ensuring a smooth examination process.
The release comes amid concerns from candidates and parents about potential delays, with many tertiary institutions commencing their 2025/2026 admission processes.
NECO’s timely announcement aims to facilitate seamless admission exercises, with public universities targeting October 31, 2025, and private institutions aiming for November 30, 2025, to complete admissions.
