The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has successfully intercepted 502,280 pills of opioids in coordinated operations across Nasarawa, Gombe, Kano, and Maiduguri.
The announcement was made on Sunday, by NDLEA Director of Media and Advocacy, Mr. Femi Babafemi, in Abuja.
According to Babafemi, “NDLEA operatives on Thursday arrested a 36-year-old suspect with 79,040 pills of tramadol and diazepam at Abacha Park, Mararaba Karu in Nasarawa.”

He added that in a separate raid in Lafia, a 47-year-old suspect was apprehended with 30,410 pills of tramadol and Rohypnol, along with 38 bottles of codeine-based cough syrup concealed in a deep freezer from Asaba, Delta, recovered on August 26.

The agency also intercepted 15,000 tramadol capsules hidden in sacks of animal feed during a follow-up operation in Ngorore, Adamawa, on August 27.
“In Kano, two suspects were arrested on Tuesday, August 26, along the Kano-Hadeja road with 1.5 kilograms of skunk and 25,000 pills of Exol-5,” Babafemi disclosed.
Further operations in Kano led to the arrest of two more suspects along the Zaria-Kano road in Gadan Tamburawa, found with 8,080 bottles of a new psychoactive substance and 25.7 kilograms of skunk.
In addition, NDLEA operatives seized 250,000 tablets of Exol-5 from a 25-year-old suspect in the Zango area of Ungogo Local Government Area on Saturday.
Babafemi emphasized, “These arrests demonstrate our unwavering commitment to combating drug trafficking and abuse in Nigeria.
“We will continue to track, apprehend, and prosecute those involved in illegal drug activities to protect the health and safety of our citizens.”
